Everything Kaipu does.

Capture it. Make it clear. Find it again.

The home page is the 30-second version. This is the whole list: every feature in Kaipu today, grouped by the moment you’d reach for it.

Show what happened.

One take. No setup.

Start from the menu bar or a shortcut, talk while you show it, stop. It’s already in your library.

Screen and camera recording

Your screen, your voice, system audio and a floating camera bubble you can drag anywhere, in high quality.

  • Mic, system audio and camera on separate switches
  • The camera bubble stays on top while you work
  • Pause and resume without starting over

Start from anywhere

A capture panel in the menu bar, and global shortcuts that work from any app. Rebind any of them.

⌘⌃CStart⌘⌃SStop⌘⌃XScreenshot⌘⌃OShow app

Change your mind mid-take

Mute the mic, turn system audio off or hide the camera while you record, from the capture panel or a shortcut. The take keeps going.

⌘⌃MMic⌘⌃ASystem audio⌘⌃KCamera

Microphone picker

Choose any input. Plug in a headset and the list updates on its own.

Recording quality presets

Trade file size for sharpness before you start, or set resolution and frame rate yourself.

Already saved

When you stop, it’s in your library. A file missing its thumbnail or duration is repaired on its own.

02 / 04Capture · 7 features

Sometimes a screenshot says it all.

Point at it. Literally.

Frame what you need, mark what matters, blur what shouldn’t be seen, and send it before the moment passes.

Annotations

Arrows, boxes, a freehand pen and handwritten-style notes on top of any screenshot.

  • Multi-line labels that wrap on their own
  • Double-click a label to edit it in place
  • Seven colors and three stroke widths per mark

Frame or Screen

Drag a frame over what you need, or keep last time’s. Screen takes a whole display. Switch modes on the selection itself; Kaipu remembers the last one.

⌘⌃XCurrent mode⌘⌃⇧FFrame⌘⌃⇧XScreen

Copy and keep going

Press ⌘C on the selection and the shot lands on the clipboard, no editor in the way. With saving on, Capture files it in your library just as quietly. A small card then offers Annotate, Open in Library or Save to Library.

Blur and frame

Blur a detail, then set the shot on a background with padding, a shadow and rounded corners so it looks finished.

Name it as you make it

A pre-filled title you can edit before saving, and rename later.

Copy, PNG or PDF

Copied to the clipboard as the editor opens, saved as a PNG, or exported as a sharp one-page PDF.

Save every screenshot, or only some

By default every capture is kept. Prefer to choose? Switch to saving only when you click Save.

03 / 04Edit · 9 features

A small tweak. A clearer idea.

Cut what’s extra. Zoom into what matters.

Just enough editing to make it clear. Every change can be undone, and your original is never touched.

Automatic zoom

The editor suggests a zoom wherever you clicked or paused, so the detail you point at is readable.

  • Each zoom follows the cursor, or locks on one spot
  • Add your own, or remove any suggestion
  • Every zoom shows why it’s there: a click, a pause or you

Trim and cut

Remove the start, the end, and anything in between.

  • Split at the playhead and delete a piece
  • Undo and redo every step
  • A history slider to go back further

Mute a cough

Silence a stretch of audio, or the whole recording. The picture keeps playing.

Blur and cover

Hide an API key or a customer name for exactly as long as it’s on screen. Cover leaves no trace.

Your original stays untouched

An edit is saved as a new item in your library. The recording you made is never changed.

Export for where it’s going

Pick where the video is going and get a file that fits, or keep Balanced. Maximum quality is one setting away.

GitHub · Jira · LinearSlack · DiscordYouTubeReels · TikTok · ShortsFeeds

Share in one click

Share straight from the library. If that version is already exported, Kaipu reuses it instead of encoding again.

Exports run in the background

Keep working while it encodes. A “Ready to share” card appears when it’s done: drag the file straight into Slack, GitHub or Finder, under a friendly name.

Pick up where you left off

The Editor opens on what you worked on last, with each video’s export state, and starts a new image straight from the clipboard.

04 / 04Find · 3 features

Useful now. Easy to find later.

Explain it once. It stays explained.

Next week, you won’t have to record it again. Everything you made is one search away.

One library for everything

Recordings and screenshots side by side, with previews, badges, filters and search.

  • Filter by type, by tag, or by this Mac and the cloud
  • Search by title or tag name
  • Sort by newest, oldest or largest

Colored tags

Create tags, give each a color, and filter the library by tag.

Rename anything

Give anything a better name. An edited video is its own item, linked back to the recording it came from.

Your files

Your library is a folder.

Every recording is an MP4 and every screenshot a PNG, in ~/Movies/Kaipu Record. Open them with anything. Move them anywhere.

  • Standard MP4 and PNG files
  • Nothing leaves your Mac unless you share it
  • Uninstall Kaipu and your files stay
